friday nails

I don't think I have properly informed my blog readers (I will just call you my blogettes if you don't mind!) about my nail polish obsession. I LOVE nail polish and my nails are almost always painted. When I was in junior high (and had lots of time on my hands), I changed my nails everyday to match my outfit. Every. Day. I obviously do not have that kind of time now, but I try to paint them at least every week.

If it were up to me, I would have the craziest colored nails with crazy patterns and jewels and lots of Hello Kitty. However, I am an adult and further, I am an attorney. So, I can't really get away with the cray nails. Sad face.

Check out these old posts here and here if you wanna see some fun nails I was able to do when I wasn't working. I go to a great local salon where the girls can do pretty much any hand-painted design on my nails that I want. Once it gets warm again, can't wait to go back to get some cray cray pedicures. But I usually just do my own manicures because it's easier, faster and cheaper.

In the meantime, here is what is on my nails right now -

The color above is "Alfre" by Julep. It's a pretty silvery gray purple-y jazz. Probably borderline not okay for work, but I think it's fine.

Speaking of Julep, I was excited to get my next Julep Maven box this month. And no, I am not being sponsored by Julep but I just love getting the boxes and wanted to share what is in there this month.

Not sure if I'll use this eyelash curler since I already have one, but it will be nice to have an extra one! And it was also a nice little surprise. You know I'm hoarding that little drawstring bag and saving it for who knows what.

The oxygen treatment is supposed to be "makeup for nails" - you are supposed to apply it once or twice a week to clean nails to promote growth. Hmm. I'll let you know how it goes!
The freedom topcoat looks like it is supposed to perform like a gel polish. The packaging says that it will completely dry in 5 minutes. For a long-lasting finish, you can cure it under a 60-watt bulb for two minutes and it can be removed by regular nail polish remover. I am intrigued! I love the last of a gel manicure but hate taking it off. Yug, I'm getting chills just thinking about it. I hope this stuff gives me a gel finish without the horror of the removal.

They included chocolates! All companies should include chocolates in all shipments they ship to you ever. New rule.

And finally, we're at the colors - Helen (pink) and Claudette (red - it's a deeper red than in this picture). These are pretty standard colors and they are something that I can wear to work regularly. Yay!

I gotta say this month was a good haul and I'm excited by what I got - all for $19.99. Sign up for your monthly box here. Again this isn't being sponsored at all - I just really like the product. Oh and I love getting pretty stuff in the mail too!

What is everyone's fave kind of nail polish - crazy colors or something more classic? Anyone else get the Julep boxes?

Hope everyone has a nice weekend! I will be ignoring all Superbowl happenings besides the Puppy Bowl and maybe some of the commercials.

Also - my doggies are being featured today at B is for Becky's Furry Fridays!! Please check out her blog - I just love the idea of a pet-centric weekly feature!!

  13. Love these colors! I've been thinking about the Julep boxes but I kind of like just picking out my own colors (and work in a fairly conservative environment). Still it seems fun to get new ones every month!
